Turnout

Places turnouts.

  • Different turnouts can be selected from the library.
  • Turnouts are placed automatically in the same direction and elevation as the track geometry.
  • Turnouts can be placed to the left or right side of the track.
  • Turnouts can be placed reversed.
Note: Turnouts are created differently based on where they are placed.
  • If the turnout is placed on a zone where there is end conditions defined in the template, the turnout is created with a straight portion, added to the end, to maintain proper end condition clipping. Crossing angle and all other properties of the turnout are still correct.
  • If there is no end condition, like on the yard areas where top tracks do not have end conditions, turnouts do not have any additional geometry. This is useful as distance between turnouts are less in those areas and fitting a turnout would not be possible with this additional geometry.

Workflow

From the Display rail placement tools, select Turnout to start the place turnout tool.

  1. Select template from the library. The templates are precise turnout definitions, which are carried to detail design in the later stages.
  2. Datapoint to select track.
  3. Datapoint to select track side/location. Place to the left or right side of the track.
  4. Select direction. Datapoint to accept.
  5. Datapoint to place the turnout automatically in the same direction and elevation as the track geometry.
